Stephen Drew's rehab assignment with AAA Reno is going well, as Drew started his third consecutive game at shortstop for the Aces on Saturday. Drew went 2-4 with a walk, and scored from first base on a triple by A.J. Pollock. Drew has now played in six games for Reno over ten days, batting .292/.346/.542, with 1 HR and 2 RBI. He also has 2 walks and 3 strikeouts, as well as a double and a triple.
Defensively, Drew has made all of the plays at shortstop, handling 25 chances without an error, and participating in four double plays. Assuming that Drew feels no ill effects from playing in three straight games, it shouldn't be much longer until he finds himself back on the Arizona roster, most likely taking a spot from 3B Josh Bell. The maximum time that he can stay on his rehab assignment is 20 days, which would take him to June 27, but it looks like Drew might be ready sooner than that. 3B Geoff Blum also began a rehab assignment in AAA on Saturday.
