The Major League Baseball season is still in its final week, but several Fall and Winter Leagues have already begun. The Diamondbacks have 7 players in the Arizona Fall League, 5 in the Venezuelan Winter League, 5 in the Dominican Winter League, and 2 in the Mexican Winter League. Plus, they also have 1 player traveling to Taiwan for the MLB Exhibition Tour, and 1 playing for Team USA in the Pan Am Games. Let's see how they are doing so far.
In the Arizona Fall League, all three Diamondbacks' hitters are off to great starts with the Salt River Rafters. Ryan Wheeler (AA in 2011) has already been named Player of the Week in the AFL, and Adam Eaton (AA) is leading the league in Runs Scored with 15. David Nick, who only played in Class A Visalia last year, is also holding his own, batting .357. Of course, the AFL is always a hitters league, and most stats have to be taken with a huge grain of salt. And the sample sizes are also very small. Last year, OF Marc Krauss led the AFL in RBI and had an OPS over .900.
Two members of the Major League Diamondbacks are back at work in the Venezuelan Winter League, Henry Blanco and Collin Cowgill. Blanco has continued with the same style of play, batting just .182 but already with a Home Run. Also playing in the VWL are Ender Inciarte and Rossmel Perez, who made their first appearances on Wednesday.
Outfielders Evan Frey and Cole Gillespie are playing in the Mexican Winter League, and Frey is off to a hot start with the bat.
In the Domincan Winter League, IF Angel Berroa and C Jhoan Pimentel both made their first appearance on Wednesday. After 1 AB each, both players are batting 1.000.
Outfielder A.J. Pollock was part of Bronze-Medal winning Team USA in the Baseball World Cup, and will also be on the team competing in the Pan Am Games this week.
Finally, IF/OF Ryan Roberts will be joining an MLB All-Star team, which includes players such as Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson, and Pablo Sandoval, for a five game exhibition series against the Chinese Taipei National Team in November.

Among the pitchers, reliever Kevin Munson has been very impressive in the AFL, allowing just 1 ER in 6 IP while striking out 12 and walking none. Unfortuately, none of the other Diamondbacks' pitchers have done very well so far. 4 more pitchers are just beginning in the Dominican and Venezuelan Leagues, including starting pitcher Barry Enright. Enright makes his second start on Thursday the 20th.
